The Classes

Bloesem Classes are creative workshops or seminars given by the best creatives in their field. They come to Singapore from all over the world to share and teach their art of creating or share knowledge about creativity and how to enhance creative thinking. We are also a one-stop place offering specialty craft supplies and kits for you to continue your crafting journey at home. 

We believe that you don’t have to sign up for long training program, to learn something. Our goal is to guide you in this overload society and by picking the best, inspiring, entertaining, original, crafts and subjects. And of course we think it is always great to meet like-minded people in a relaxed, creative environment, with some nice food and drinks. And tons of fun (we hope!). #21 Modern Handwriting 

A modern handwriting class where you will learn to embrace your own style and make it as beautiful as it can be. Josselin Bijl will work with you to make the most out of your own unique and individual handwriting and provide you with the right skills to expand your repertoire of writing skills. 

Josselin Bijl is a freelance creative for several magazines and a lifestyle-editor, stylist and illustrator for books.

A calligraphy class designed to give you the right tools and skills to kickstart your journey to writing beautiful strokes and lettering. Veronica will also teach you how to work with gold foil elements to give your lettering a lush and festive look.

A graphic designer with her own design studio, Veronica have taught calligraphy classes in several countries in Asia. 

#19 #Instafood: Food Styling and Mobile Photography 

A food styling and mobile photography class where the Bloesem team will teach you how to artfully style your food and take Instagram shots that will make your followers drool all over. The workshop covers mobile photography basics and the art of food styling with the use of backgrounds and props to craft a food story through images that are believable, intimate and meaningful.

 

#18 The Art of Visual Storytelling

A 4-hour crash course taught by Irene Hoofs and Zara S. from Bloesem Blogs, where they will go over all the tips and tricks of how to create online content for your blogs or other forms of social media. Specifically catered to newbie bloggers, the class will be split into two 2-hour sessions – theory and practice – for you to put your best foot forward online.

Irene Hoofs is the founder and editor of the Bloesem blogsZara S. is the creative, writer, and stylist of Bloesem. 

#17 Marketing for Makers

A 3.5 hour deep conditioning marketing class where Irene and Anouk will share their tips and tricks of being successful entrepreneurs and walk you through marketing tactics to promote your brand to a wider audience while creating a loyal customer base.

Irene Hoofs is the founder and editor of the Bloesem blogs. Anouk is a marketeer and strategist as well as the designer and mastermind behind the creations of Make History

#16 Master Your DSLR!

A DSLR! master class where Jennifer Young will teach you all of the basics of photography, covering different camera types and brands, camera settings, lenses, as well as valuable techniques and tips, such as stylistic and compositional tricks, for taking professional-looking images. 

Teacher Jennifer Young is a self-taught lifestyle, portrait, travel photographer, creative and author from California. Her work can be seen in notable sites, blogs, and magazines such as Martha Stewart and Apartment Therapy. 

 

#15 Candle-Making Class 

A candle-making class where Anne and Luke Suthern will teach you the secrets to making beautiful and unique scents using botanical oils. You will learn to the basics of making soy candles and working with different types of fragrances.

Anne and Luke Suthern are the makers behind Deckle and Hide candles and leather goods that adhere strongly to their "minimalist" design and "whole" material philosophy. 

#14 Knots and Ropes: Macrame Class

A craft class designed to teach you the art of decorative knotting – macrame. You will learn from Natalie Miller a variety of knotting styles, designs and patterns to make your very own wall-hanging-style pot hanger. 

Natalie Miller is a fibre artists, maker and weaver from Australia. She studied tapestry weaving at Sturt Art and Craft Centre, Mittagong in 2013 and ever since have been creating the most beautiful tapestry weavings and macramé pieces in her vibrant and eclectic studio.

 

#13 Tapestry Weaving Class

A craft class designed to teach you the fundamentals of weaving and different tapestry weaving techniques. Natalie Miller from Australia will guide you through making your very own woven wall hanging from a range of cotton warp, wool and fibers.

A social media workshop to teach you all the tricks of the trade involved in taking captivating photos on Instagram and optimizing this platform for your small businesses. Learn from famous Instagram photographer, Jelito de Leon, photo-taking tips and the power of using Instagram for marketing.

Jelito is a freelance Food & Lifestyle photographer from Manila whose photographs are inspired by the daily things he sees around him.

#11 Water, Paint and Brushes!

A watercolouring class designed not only to teach you basic watercolour techniques but also how to transfer your watercolour expressions into practical items such as home accessories and fashion pieces. Get inspired by Arounna from Canada and let it be a date to instill a sense of renewed energy towards watercolouring!

Shibori prints are the hottest trend now…fashion, décor and design, it's everywhere! Learn how to transform plain white fabrics into impressive Shibori patterns from Arounna Khounnoraj-- textiles genius, artist and co-founder of Bookhou.

#9 Felt to Flower: A Wool Felt Flower Making Class

A handicraft workshop designed to teach you how to create gorgeous blooms from wool felt. Taught by Rubyellen Bratcher, these felt flowers can be used as an accessory, added to a vase or bundled together into a bouquet, wreath, or wall hanging.

Rubyellen Bratcher is a maker and a doer, author of Let’s Sew Together, and pens the popular lifestyle and craft blog Cakies.

#8 Rope Vessel Making Class

A handicraft class designed to teach you how to create and decorate your own stylish rope vessels. Gemma Patford from Melbourne will teach you to sew and style our own unique rope masterpiece using paint, scrap fabric and embroidery.

Gemma Patford Legge is a Melbourne maker. Working from her Brunswick home-studio, she creates her popular rope baskets and experiments with other hand made goods.

#3 Cook. Bake. Shoot 

A food photography and styling workshop designed for food bloggers, foodie instagramers or enthusiastic cooks who enjoy taking photographs of their food. Elodie Bellegarde will teach the basics of food photography and go in-depth into the art of food styling.

Elodie Bellegarde is a French food stylist, photographer and writer based in Singapore.

#2 Decorate like a Pro  

A workshop where styling guru, Jurianne Matter, will take you on a journey through the wonderful profession of styling be it products, food, fashion or décor. She will teach you to make a moodboard and use it to make your ideas into reality!

Juianne Matter is one of the first to graduate from the famous styling Artemis Academy in Amsterdam and have done styling for IKEA for many years.

A workshop where you will learn the art of calligraphy from Maybelle Imasa-Stukuls. Having learnt calligraphy from traditional teachers, Maybelle will teach you her unique style of calligraphy, based on traditional calligraphy, done using a pointed pen.

Maybelle is an artist and calligrapher who has a widely acclaimed and distinctly modern approach to calligraphy. Having more than 10 years of experience under her belt, she has a very impressive list of clients, including Martha Stewart, and her works have been featured on many design blogs, such as Design*Sponge and Oh Happy day.
